SMT Stencil Inspection Machine - Kunshan Zhongchuang Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd.

A stencil inspection machine is a specialized automated device for testing the quality of stencils (SMT stencils, i.e., templates used for printing solder paste or adhesive in Surface Mount Technology). Its core purpose is to ensure that the aperture size, position, shape, and overall integrity of the stencil meet production requirements through high-precision detection methods, thereby guaranteeing the quality of subsequent soldering of electronic components. Its specific uses can be divided into the following aspects:

1. Detecting key parameters of stencil apertures

Dimensional accuracy inspection: Precisely measure the length, width, depth, diameter, and other dimensions of stencil apertures to determine if they are within the designed tolerance range (e.g., checking for issues such as oversized, undersized, or deformed apertures).

Positional accuracy inspection: Verify whether the center positions and spacing of apertures fully match the pad positions designed for the PCB (Printed Circuit Board). This prevents solder paste printing offsets caused by positional deviations, which could lead to problems like cold soldering or short circuits.

Shape integrity inspection: Check if the aperture shape conforms to design standards (such as circular, square, or special-shaped) and if there are defects like burrs, collapses, blockages, or damages on the aperture edges.

2. Identifying overall quality defects of the stencil

Surface defect inspection: Identify flaws on the stencil surface such as scratches, dents, oil stains, or oxidation that may affect printing quality.

Tension and flatness inspection: Some high-end stencil inspection machines can assist in checking whether the stencil tension is uniform and the overall flatness is maintained, avoiding uneven printing thickness caused by stencil deformation.

Aperture connectivity inspection: For complex apertures (such as stepped holes or special-shaped holes), check for issues like incomplete penetration or partial blockages to ensure smooth passage of solder paste.

3. Ensuring stability in the electronic manufacturing process

Pre-production quality control: Inspect stencils before they are put into production to eliminate unqualified ones in advance, avoiding batch PCB soldering defects caused by stencil issues and reducing production waste.

Post-production maintenance inspection: After multiple uses, stencils may wear or get blocked. The inspection machine can determine if they are still reusable or need repair/replacement, reducing production costs.

Data traceability and analysis: Most stencil inspection machines have data storage and analysis functions, which can record inspection results. This helps enterprises trace the root causes of stencil quality problems (such as stencil manufacturing processes or storage methods) and optimize production workflows.

 Application scenarios

Stencil inspection machines are widely used in the electronics manufacturing industry, especially in SMT production lines, covering fields such as consumer electronics (mobile phones, computers), automotive electronics, aerospace, and medical devices. They are a key link in ensuring solder paste printing quality, indirectly affecting the reliability and service life of electronic products.
